The Newest Era of Astroturfing

Marketing and public relations teams have used astroturfing tactics for years. The method began with practitioners mass sending letters to the editor to many newspapers with positive messages about their brand or company. With the newest technology, these efforts can be easily multiplied, with positive and seemingly "grassroots" efforts about a company or brand popping up on YouTube, social networking sites and of course, blogs.
